Vittorio is recognized as one of the leading figures in corporate law in Italy.
He has extensive and well-established experience in assisting Italian and international clients in complex privatization, M&A, listing, and structured finance transactions. He has played a key role in some of the most significant deals on the Italian market in recent decades, including the negotiations with the Holy See during the Banco Ambrosiano crisis.
He was involved in the privatization process of major companies within the IRI group – including Credito Italiano, Banca Commerciale Italiana, Autostrade, and Acciai Speciali Terni – helping to reshape the country’s economic and industrial landscape. He also advised on the privatization of Borsa Italiana.
Throughout his career, he has assisted leading Italian and international banks in financing, debt restructuring, and project finance transactions. In corporate and arbitration matters, he handled, among others, the well-known ICSID arbitration for the recovery of Argentine debt and numerous highly complex proceedings, such as assisting Shell in the negotiations with ENEL regarding the Montalto di Castro regasification terminal.
A Fulbright Scholar in New York, he graduated in Law from the University “La Sapienza” of Rome and was a student of Gino Gorla. He was a partner at Studio Graziadei and Clifford Chance, and later founded Grimaldi Clifford Chance, Grimaldi e Associati, and Grimaldi Studio Legale.
Alongside his legal practice, he has always nurtured a deep passion for art. He also advises on art law, with a focus on assisting Italian museums and private collectors in locating and recovering artworks illegally exported abroad.
